WHMCS Integration FAQs - J!WHMCS Integrator

WHMCS Integration with J!WHMCS.  Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that we've compiled about the J!WHMCS Integrator.  If your have additional questions, please visit our Pre-Sales question forum and open a new thread.

What is J!WHMCS?

J!WHMCS is a Joomla Component with a set of plugins and a module that fully integrates the WHMCS into the Joomla Framework.  It takes the core of WHMCS and surrounds it with your Joomla header, footer, sidebars, etc. and applies the Joomla text colors and CSS to WHMCS, producing visual consistency throughout your website.

Will J!WHMCS work with any Joomla template?

J!WHMCS will work with any Joomla template.  There are times where certain javascripts or jquery libraries conflict, depending on the overhead of the Joomla template but essentially J!WHMCS will work with any Joomla template.  If for some reason it doesn't work with a specific framework, our support team will identify and address those issues promptly to make it work.

There simply has not been a Joomla template that we couldn't make work with the J!WHMCS Integrator.

How is J!WHMCS Installed?

J!WHMCS installs like any other Joomla component.  Once the component is installed it takes you through an installation interview that installs the 4 needed plugins and the connectors to your WHMCS installation using the WHMCS API to connect.

Once it's connected to WHMCS it makes a duplicate copy of each of the WHMCS template folders and renames them.  It then overwrites certain files within each template that product the integration.

The J!WHMCS Integration component DOES NOT edit or alter any core WHMCS files or folders.

After the Installation is complete, it automatically sets the WHMCS to your new jwhmcs-portal template and you are now visually integrated.  It makes a copy of all WHMCS templates so you can choose which WHMCS template you want to use with your Joomla site.

After you are fully integrated, you simply add a 'Client Menu' module and install our 'Client Login' Module and place them on the integrated pages or wherever you'd like.

What about User Integration with J!WHMCS?

Not only does J!WHMCS integrate your WHMCS site visually into Joomla, it can also integrate your users.  It will match up users based on the uniqueness of thier email address from one system to the other.  Once your users are matched up, they will be able to login via their Joomla username or their email address.  If they reset their password, it's updated in both systems.

WHMCS user integration with Joomla users allows for access to forums or to comment on blogs, or even allow access to Registered Only modules within your website.  J!WHMCS renders two pages to your users, either Logged In or Logged Out, so while you have control over what's shown to registered users, J!WHMCS does not provide granular control through Joomla ACL.

If you are looking for control of access based on Joomla usergroups with WHMCS purchases, take a look at our latest product, Belong, that works in conjunction with J!WHMCS and Integrator 3.

Why should I renew my Support and Upgrade Pack?

We try to provide the best quality product as possible, but with that we provide the best possible support services that we can.  To continue to do this, we do require an annual renewal of the Support and Upgrade Pack in order to continue to have access to the following features of our site:

  • Latest Product Downloads
  • Support Ticket System
  • Product Support Forum

Yes, some sites don't charge for their support or provide free downloads, but we believe that when you are as serious about running your business as we are, you want to ensure you get what you pay for.  An extension or product that isn't supported is not useful if it isn't working for you.
