A compilation of the latest news from Go Higher and around the industry

Happy New Year from Go Higher!  I wish 2016 to be a successful, profitable and abundantly blessed year for you and your customers!

I wanted to take a moment and update everyone about some changes taking place at Go Higher.

integrationIn this post I'll be addressing a question we hear quite a bit with Integrator 3:  How do I assign a module from Joomla to a page or set of pages in WHMCS?

Before beginning, we must first understand the way Integrator 3 wraps your WHMCS application with Joomla.  When a user lands on your WHMCS page, the Integrator 3 module for WHMCS is called upon and asked to retrieve from the Integrator 3 application the appropriate page wrapping.  WHMCS doesn't know specifically which page, but it does know a little information to send along:

  • The Visual ID:  This is found in the URL as a _v variable and indicates which visual connection in WHMCS we should get.  You will see the _v variable if you are on the Joomla site and click an Integrator 3 Menu Item link to take you to WHMCS.  There the _v is set to indicate which connection you just came from and that is stored in the session for future use.
  • The filename:  The I3 module knows it is on say the clientarea page asking for user details or viewing invoices.  These are considered separate pages.

Support helpOne of the most challenging aspects of managing support is the many channels that must be monitored and maintained; tickets, forums, documentation - it can be hard to keep up.

This is why I'm excited to let everyone know that I have added a new feature to our forum that will revolutionize support services for Go Higher.  I've added an extension that will push Prowl messages to our support team so that the instant a forum post is made or replied to we are notified so we can respond as quickly as possible.

Many of you have heard there are a couple of updates available the past few days for Joomla!, but there is one of particular concern that you should address immediately.

Affected Software

  • All Joomla! versions of 1.5.26 (currently at end of life)
  • Joomla! version 2.5.13 and below
  • Joomla! version 3.1.4 and below

How to fix versions 2.5 and 3.1

  1. Log into your Joomla! administration backend with a super user account
  2. Navigate to Extensions > Extension Manager
  3. Click on Updates
  4. Click on Find New Updates
  5. Navigate to Components > Joomla Update
  6. Perform the update

But I'm running Joomla! 1.5.26!?!  What do I do!?!

A patch has been provided though unofficially it seems.  You can download the patch here:

Then extract the file to your computer and upload the files to your Joomla! site.  Be sure you are already running version 1.5.26 as I'm not 100% sure this will work on other versions (there may have been changes in the files between versions).
